Why bring artificial intelligence into the creative process? AI is already being used to create fantastical works of art, surreal films, poetry, music and so much more. Why not jewelry?
I have recently embarked on a journey to learn metalsmithing, and I believe using AI to spark the design process will encourage me to try new things, discover inventive techniques, and create pieces I would never have the pure imagination to create on my own. Unencumbered by physical laws, AI gleefully creates designs that would be physically impossible to fabricate. Others are possible, with a little ingenuity. And some are surprisingly elegant in their simplicity.
Like many creatives, I dislike marketing, even though it is a creative endeavor in itself. So, I’ve decided to let Chat GPT assist with my marketing content, to the greatest degree that is practical. Facebook and Instagram posts, marketing content and most of this website will be AI-generated. I will also make use of Chat GPT for informative blog posts, but know that I will always vet the information produced. If I can’t verify its accuracy, I won’t post it. I will always indicate which content is human-produced and which is generated.

I hope you will join me on this exciting journey. I will be starting small as I test the waters (and attempt to determine whether I’ve completely lost my mind). DALL-E has suggested some intriguing designs that I’m anxious to explore. These will be crafted from copper, and I may attempt some enameling to create some of the ethereal effects the generator has suggested. I’ll share my processes, victories and setbacks.
I have yet to venture into the world of Midjourney, which is producing some really spectacular art. For now I’ll be working with free solutions, until I feel it’s worth it to invest.
